
There are many different courses that are suitable for anyone wanting to become a tree surgeon. Courses can be available online or through a local training provider. We will be listing a few examples of courses you can take to start trading as a tree surgeon.
Certificate in Arboriculture
Run by ACS Distance Education, this course covers topics such as tree diseases, tree surgery practices and rehabilitating environments using trees. The course takes 600 hours to complete and costs £1,220.
Advanced Certificate in Applied Arboriculture Management
Also run by ACS Distance Education, this course is suitable for tree surgeons who want to manage their own team. The course takes 900 hours and costs £1,590.
Arboricultural Qualifications
There is a range of qualifications available. Qualifications accredited by Lantra Awards cover ground-based and aerial tree work, tree identification and planting as well as wildfire prevention. Qualifications accredited by ABC Awards range from a level 2 award in Arboriculture (155 guided learning hours) to a level 6 diploma (255 guided learning hours).
