Worcestershire

Worcestershire has some lovely ancient trees on some of the old estates especially down in the South near the Severn Valley. For tree lovers - The Bewdley Sweet Chesnut - Bewdley - (one of the top 50 UK Jubilee Trees) This vast tree spreads over a quarter of an acre and is said to have been planted to commemorate Prince Authur's marriage to Katherine of Aragon who was later married to Authur's Brother, Henry VIII. Other single trees worth a mention are the Temple Oak at Broughton with a girth of 11metres and the Mitre Oak whose owners, the Hartlebury Parish Council, claim it to be about 1,000years old. Other interesting trees can be found at Arley Arboretum, Upper Arley, Bewdley, Dingle woods, Kyre Park, Kyre, Tenbury Wells, and Spetchley Park, Spetchley, Worcester.
